The Power of Art
31 JulI saw this phrase earlier today, The Power of Art, and my heart sang out, “Yes!” Yes, because art does have power. I am an artist you see. It was something I had wanted to be. Yet when I finally decided to let art be my passion, it didn’t come naturally. What I saw in my head wasn’t what I had conveyed on the canvases. But I knew, I had to keep at it. If this was something I had dreamed of being, because it didn’t come naturally was no reason to not go for it. So I did. I went for it. With the amount of gumption and passion that I had.
For me, that meant practicing. I went to some workshops, purchased a bunch of books, and practiced. Until one day, I decided no more – following other people’s instructions that is. I was ready. I just wanted the image, the idea, and then to let the how to to flow for themselves. And they did. And when they didn’t, I’d just wait and see and knew that I’d figure something out. And I did.
For that I am glad; for inside of me somewhere I knew the power of art, and I finally decided to let the power of art be my passion. At least one of them. And at least for now.
Blessings.

An artist making a difference
10 AprI’ve been reading a book on being happier in life, with work, etc. One thing in the book that made an impression on me as far as motivation is concerned, is the human need/desire to make a difference. People like their jobs so much better, whatever their job is, from cleaning people on up, when they feel they are contributing to the overall good of the organization, group, whatever.
I find that to be true for myself as well; when I think that I am making a difference, I am more motivated to go forth and take action. And a lot of times, that way of looking at the situation is a choice, and a change in attitude.
The difference that I see myself making, is that I choose to make art that has an overall good feeling to it. I like creating and making designs that bring a smile, that inspire, that encourages and/or shows appreciation. I know that, that is what I like seeing more of, so that is what I choose to create.
Signed me, an artist making a difference.

Did artist demo for paint in designs
18 MarThis morning I attended a local Parent group called Parent’s Place. The youngest kids stay with their parents in the parent room, while the 18 month – 4 year olds do kids activities guided by teachers. This morning I was the guest speaker for the parent’s room.
Being an artist that also has a Zazzle store, I offered the parents design services that can be printed on a variety of products, as well as commissioned paintings on canvas and such.
Another thing that I offer is paintings that their kids can do. Starting with a basic outline design that I’ve uploaded to Zazzle and placed t-shirts and aprons, the parents can order them and their kids can paint them in, and also add their own creativity to the design, using paint pens.
Paint pens are easily handled and parents don’t have to purchase additional brushes. I recommend the paint pens that have fine to medium sized tips. The ultra fine tips may have a metal barrel for the paint to flow down onto the tip, and can cause blotches of paint to come out. So just make sure the tips have the felt tip all the way.
Markers can also be used; however the marker colors can bleed into the fabric a bit more. The paint pens tend to make a cleaner line. The paint pens can also be used to paint dots with. Pointillism is a fun technique for kids to paint with.
If you would like to read more about color in designs, visit my Squidoo lens on Tshirts To Color http://www.squidoo.com/TshirtsToColor. The designs are also available on kids aprons, and some are available on canvas shoes by Keds.
Additional design requests are welcome.

Then when I got to creating products on Zazzle, I decided to add multiple borders on some of the apparel products. What I did was to shrink each image down as I added it. This is what I came up with. What do you think?
