Baseball Birthday Invitations

13 Jul

I had went to a meeting and a woman mentioned to me that she would like a baseball pattern on canvas shoes.  I didn’t get her contact information, but perhaps with some promotion, she’ll find it here.

As I was making the baseball design, I kept thinking that kids would love having a baseball party. I remembered how the neighborhood kids got together and played baseball in a nearby field and how fun that was, when I was a kid. I did some research and found that there are quite a few searches for baseball birthday invitations. So I went ahead and put this design on birthday party invitations too.

There is a template form to fill in with who the party is for, date, time, etc. Then you can either customize each card and add a recipient’s address or fill that part in later once you receive them. Either way, I hope you have lots of fun; I know the kids will have fun playing, and it gives them something to do while you get everything else ready.

Lively Kayak Pointillism Painting on Postcards

16 Jun
Pointillism can come in many styles. The dots can be small and orderly, they can be large, colorful, and also random. However, random is not totally random, or there would be no ‘picture’ to see.
I love the pointillism in this picture as it gives the scene a lively look; a look of action, and fun reflection.

This pointillism kayak scene, by CherylsArt on Zazzle, is available on postcards, prints, and postage stamps. To see more, visit http://www.zazzle.com/CherylsArt*/. and type in kayak in the search box.

Cool and funky, abstract Zentangle shoes

12 Jan
It began with an outline of a wavy rectangle. Then a line inside here and another one there. Colors of blue filling the spaces. More lines and shapes; coloring them in, adding shading. Mesmerized. So cool and funky, what one can do with just two colors. And then I uploaded this cool and funky design and added it to Keds Canvas Shoes, ready for you to look cool and funky too!

Four Yellow Roses, Our Wedding, postage stamps

12 Jan
My first thought was to create something elegant for a wedding. The next one was a of a postage stamp with a rose in each corner, on a wide black border.

I browsed through my photos of roses, and knew that for this a rose bud wouldn’t do; it needed to be a rose in full bloom.

There were a couple of choices, but the one that stood out was the rose with the group of three leaves. The leaves would be pointing towards the center, towards the message, or monogram.

I painted the wide black border. I painted the rose separately so I could paint it large and get better detail, and not have to worry about the black. It would be more impressive this way.

The black was drying and I worked more on the rose.

I fine tuned the edges of the black.

I added highlights and shading to the rose, and highlights, details and darkening to the leaves.

Aaah, at last, the two creations were to come together, united with the aid of technology, my computer.

One rose painted, previously measured out and angled so that the leaves would point center when turned in the corners. And so it was, with a click of the mouse, a new copy of the rose is made and the image turned. Four times, and sized to fit just so.

It is done, and now ready for you; for your wedding invitations or for whatever you would have it to be.

New wedding design by CherylsArt, a beach scene

17 Sep

This one is in the works, I started the basecoats while I was working on the Pumpkins in love design. Today, I fine tuned the colors and added dimension. The sky is a pale blue with a touch of white and lavender. The ocean is blue with aqua and gray, and white bluish waves. The sand is a light tan/off white with touches of tan and gray, with smooth wet sand turning into dry sand as you move towards land.

Right now, said painting is drying. The next step I plan to take is to paint a beach umbrella in the sand, two toned, with “Our Wedding” written in the foreground, over the sand.

I also might make it available without an umbrella too. We’ll see when it dries, and you can also let me know here in the comments section. Which do you prefer? – beach umbrella, or no beach umbrella. And if yes to the umbrella, what color(s) would you like it to be?

I was thinking of aqua and white, seems to go with the color scheme already there, but you can let me know what you think if you’d like something different. I’ll be sure to check here before starting the next step.

In the meantime, check out my other wedding designs at www.zazzle.com/CherylsArt*/ under the Product Lines – Wedding.

Thanks.

Great cat litter and a new diaper pail

1 Aug

Our cat likes certain litters and we had finally found one that she liked, so that’s the one we bought week after week, until it was no longer in the stores. The search was on again. At the end of the second week, I lucked out. I found one that she liked that was also light weight and also biodegradable, and clumping. We hit the jackpot! The new winning cat litter is by Arm and Hammer and it is made from corn.

Also, the old diaper pail that we had been using for 19+ years!, has seen its better days. Some of the newer one’s were not at all the style that we had had. But we did find a new one that is user friendly, keeps the smells to a minimum, and does not need any specific diaper pail bags. That’s another big plus for us and the environment. The new diaper pail is called Diaper Champ.

You can see both items on my lens on Squidoo -

Blessings to you for a cat purrr-fect day! : )

The Power of Art

31 Jul

I saw this phrase earlier today, The Power of Art, and my heart sang out, “Yes!” Yes, because art does have power. I am an artist you see. It was something I had wanted to be. Yet when I finally decided to let art be my passion, it didn’t come naturally. What I saw in my head wasn’t what I had conveyed on the canvases. But I knew, I had to keep at it. If this was something I had dreamed of being, because it didn’t come naturally was no reason to not go for it. So I did. I went for it. With the amount of gumption and passion that I had.

For me, that meant practicing. I went to some workshops, purchased a bunch of books, and practiced. Until one day, I decided no more – following other people’s instructions that is. I was ready. I just wanted the image, the idea, and then to let the how to to flow for themselves. And they did. And when they didn’t, I’d just wait and see and knew that I’d figure something out. And I did.

For that I am glad; for inside of me somewhere I knew the power of art, and I finally decided to let the power of art be my passion. At least one of them. And at least for now.

Blessings.
