Stained Glass Photo Postage Stamps, Monogram Postage Stamps

6 Oct

I like stained glass; the translucent quality, yet colorful. I also was impressed by vintage picture frames with an elegant oval framing. The two thoughts eventually gelled in my mind to make a watercolor rendering of stained glass, as an oval frame. I outlined the shapes and the oval with a bronze like acrylic paint, to look like solder. The first postage stamps that I made from this painting will showcase a person’s photo, which can serve as an announcement, a congratulations, a celebration, or just because.

Since the oval itself is blank, I also made the design as a frame for monograms. The center color, behind the letter, can be customized by the customer from a drop down menu.

Lively Kayak Pointillism Painting on Postcards

16 Jun
Pointillism can come in many styles. The dots can be small and orderly, they can be large, colorful, and also random. However, random is not totally random, or there would be no ‘picture’ to see.
I love the pointillism in this picture as it gives the scene a lively look; a look of action, and fun reflection.

This pointillism kayak scene, by CherylsArt on Zazzle, is available on postcards, prints, and postage stamps. To see more, visit http://www.zazzle.com/CherylsArt*/. and type in kayak in the search box.

Ordering Customized Products Online at Zazzle

17 May

Zazzle is a print on demand company, meaning that the items are printed once the order has been placed.

For this reason, customers that shop at Zazzle, can usually have the option to add customization to the products that they select. I say usually, because each artist that creates designs that are sold on Zazzle products, decides whether or not that design can be customized. For instance, a designer might have a specific quote and/or design that they do not want changed. For designs that can be changed however, there will be a Customize button near the product.

Usually a design can be customized in a variety of ways:

1. A change in the product style and/or size that the design is on.

2. A change in the text – It can be the text itself; the font style, size, and/or color.

3. A change in moving images and/or text around.

4. On some items, customers may also have the choice of changing borders and/or background colors. This can depend on the original design and how it is made, and also can depend on which product the item is on; i.e. postage stamps have the option of a border color, cards do not. But on a card, one can shrink the design size and then add a background color to achieve a similar border effect.

Another easy customizing feature that one might see on Zazzle, when ordering products that can be personalized, is a template form. Some designs are posted with a template form that allows for easy changing of text, and/or exchanging an image for one that you have stored on your computer. If you need more or less lines of text than what is presented on the template form, you can then also click on Customize to also change font, font size, etc., and do all of the other customizing as listed above.

Four Yellow Roses, Our Wedding, postage stamps

12 Jan
My first thought was to create something elegant for a wedding. The next one was a of a postage stamp with a rose in each corner, on a wide black border.

I browsed through my photos of roses, and knew that for this a rose bud wouldn’t do; it needed to be a rose in full bloom.

There were a couple of choices, but the one that stood out was the rose with the group of three leaves. The leaves would be pointing towards the center, towards the message, or monogram.

I painted the wide black border. I painted the rose separately so I could paint it large and get better detail, and not have to worry about the black. It would be more impressive this way.

The black was drying and I worked more on the rose.

I fine tuned the edges of the black.

I added highlights and shading to the rose, and highlights, details and darkening to the leaves.

Aaah, at last, the two creations were to come together, united with the aid of technology, my computer.

One rose painted, previously measured out and angled so that the leaves would point center when turned in the corners. And so it was, with a click of the mouse, a new copy of the rose is made and the image turned. Four times, and sized to fit just so.

It is done, and now ready for you; for your wedding invitations or for whatever you would have it to be.

Wedding Beach Scene stamps with umbrella

25 Sep
I’ve added an umbrella to the beach painting, and this time wrote the bride’s and groom’s names across the sand, and a place for their wedding date. The umbrella can be left in, removed, or replaced with your own image.
If you’d like to purchase these stamps with a different color umbrella, just let me know.

Save the date, Flower Border, Postage

16 Dec
When I first started designing postage stamps on Zazzle, I didn't know that you could select a border color. Now that I do, I've been going back in and customizing postage stamps with a new border color and publishing those.

Customers can also customize the border color as long as the Customize option is available for that stamp. If it is, it will be in the lower right hand corner. Just click on the Customize option. Once the customize screen comes up, click on colors, near the top, and a drop down menu will show up. Click on border. A color menu will come up. Click on the color of your choice.

Blessings.
