Purple Pumpkin Save the date Stickers

1 Oct

I decided to paint a purple pumpkin yesterday; there was no particular reason that I was aware of. I just knew I wanted it to be purple, and I thought a gold leaf would go well with it, since it was purple.

This design is on many products now, but the most appealing one to me, is how it looks on Wedding Save the date Stickers.

Pumpkins in Love Halloween Wedding Stamps

17 Sep
I was making my new lens on Squidoo on Halloween Stamps and decided to add a category for Halloween weddings. When I browsed the Halloween stamps on Zazzle, there didn’t seem to be too many wedding choices. So I decided to make a new one, with pumpkins in love.
I began with a browse of pumpkin images, looking for some with a little bit of lean to them. I wanted them to have a snuggle look as if they were leaning in to one another. Once I found two pumpkins that fit the bill, I did my drawing on a rough draft. Once I polished that up, I added their faces. To the male pumpkin, I gave arched eyebrows.  To the female, I gave slender eyebrows, and gave them both a crooked smile. Their stems are also green as they are still young. Then I enveloped them in a heart shaped pumpkin vine. Hope you enjoy pumpkins in love. Please leave a comment if you would like ‘pumpkins in love’ design on other products too.
Pumpkins in love is available with “Our Wedding” and they can also be customized with your own message. The font style and size can also be changed. Check them out at CherylsArt* on Zazzle.

Great cat litter and a new diaper pail

1 Aug

Our cat likes certain litters and we had finally found one that she liked, so that’s the one we bought week after week, until it was no longer in the stores. The search was on again. At the end of the second week, I lucked out. I found one that she liked that was also light weight and also biodegradable, and clumping. We hit the jackpot! The new winning cat litter is by Arm and Hammer and it is made from corn.

Also, the old diaper pail that we had been using for 19+ years!, has seen its better days. Some of the newer one’s were not at all the style that we had had. But we did find a new one that is user friendly, keeps the smells to a minimum, and does not need any specific diaper pail bags. That’s another big plus for us and the environment. The new diaper pail is called Diaper Champ.

You can see both items on my lens on Squidoo –

Blessings to you for a cat purrr-fect day! : )

The Power of Art

31 Jul

I saw this phrase earlier today, The Power of Art, and my heart sang out, “Yes!” Yes, because art does have power. I am an artist you see. It was something I had wanted to be. Yet when I finally decided to let art be my passion, it didn’t come naturally. What I saw in my head wasn’t what I had conveyed on the canvases. But I knew, I had to keep at it. If this was something I had dreamed of being, because it didn’t come naturally was no reason to not go for it. So I did. I went for it. With the amount of gumption and passion that I had.

For me, that meant practicing. I went to some workshops, purchased a bunch of books, and practiced. Until one day, I decided no more – following other people’s instructions that is. I was ready. I just wanted the image, the idea, and then to let the how to to flow for themselves. And they did. And when they didn’t, I’d just wait and see and knew that I’d figure something out. And I did.

For that I am glad; for inside of me somewhere I knew the power of art, and I finally decided to let the power of art be my passion. At least one of them. And at least for now.

Blessings.

Acrylic Painting Techniques

29 May

Acrylic paints is a versatile medium that offers artists the ability to achieve watercolor affects, pieces that look like they’re oil paintings, and pieces that have their own versatile acrylic style.

Acrylic paints behave differently than either watercolor and oils. Acrylics dry faster than oils, but mediums can be added to extend their working time. Acrylics are more opaque than watercolors, but mediums can be added to achieve the look of watercolors.
