Great cat litter and a new diaper pail

1 Aug

Our cat likes certain litters and we had finally found one that she liked, so that’s the one we bought week after week, until it was no longer in the stores. The search was on again. At the end of the second week, I lucked out. I found one that she liked that was also light weight and also biodegradable, and clumping. We hit the jackpot! The new winning cat litter is by Arm and Hammer and it is made from corn.

Also, the old diaper pail that we had been using for 19+ years!, has seen its better days. Some of the newer one’s were not at all the style that we had had. But we did find a new one that is user friendly, keeps the smells to a minimum, and does not need any specific diaper pail bags. That’s another big plus for us and the environment. The new diaper pail is called Diaper Champ.

You can see both items on my lens on Squidoo –

Blessings to you for a cat purrr-fect day! : )

Acrylic Painting Techniques

29 May

Acrylic paints is a versatile medium that offers artists the ability to achieve watercolor affects, pieces that look like they’re oil paintings, and pieces that have their own versatile acrylic style.

Acrylic paints behave differently than either watercolor and oils. Acrylics dry faster than oils, but mediums can be added to extend their working time. Acrylics are more opaque than watercolors, but mediums can be added to achieve the look of watercolors.

Did artist demo for paint in designs

18 Mar

This morning I attended a local Parent group called Parent’s Place. The youngest kids stay with their parents in the parent room, while the 18 month – 4 year olds do kids activities guided by teachers. This morning I was the guest speaker for the parent’s room.

Being an artist that also has a Zazzle store, I offered the parents design services that can be printed on a variety of products, as well as commissioned paintings on canvas and such.

Another thing that I offer is paintings that their kids can do. Starting with a basic outline design that I’ve uploaded to Zazzle and placed t-shirts and aprons, the parents can order them and their kids can paint them in, and also add their own creativity to the design, using paint pens.

Paint pens are easily handled and parents don’t have to purchase additional brushes. I recommend the paint pens that have fine to medium sized tips. The ultra fine tips may have a metal barrel for the paint to flow down onto the tip, and can cause blotches of paint to come out. So just make sure the tips have the felt tip all the way.

Markers can also be used; however the marker colors can bleed into the fabric a bit more. The paint pens tend to make a cleaner line. The paint pens can also be used to paint dots with. Pointillism is a fun technique for kids to paint with.

If you would like to read more about color in designs, visit my Squidoo lens on Tshirts To Color http://www.squidoo.com/TshirtsToColor. The designs are also available on kids aprons, and some are available on canvas shoes by Keds.

Additional design requests are welcome.

I just joined twitter

12 Dec

Do you twitter? Do you find it useful? I just watched their little video and decided to go for it. I had just finished working on a Squidoo lens on Creative Parenting, http://www.squidoo.com/creativeparenting and as usual, once I published it, I had the option to also Twitter it. This time I clicked on that option. I didn’t have an account yet, but it looked appealing. Just type a little, 140 characters or less. That part I liked too. If I’m going to sign up for something else, it should only take a little. So now I twitter. Do you?

Do you Squidoo?

11 Dec

I became a Squidoo member in 2006 when it was first getting started. Squidoo sounded like a wonderful place where people could build lenses on their favorite subjects, in addition to lenses on subjects that they wanted to find out more about. Since those early days, Squidoo has continued to grow and offers all kinds of possibilities for the lensmasters that join. There are groups to join to make it easier for people to find lenses, and all kinds of modules to promote their own art, online stores, and more.

If you like to write and like to promote, then Squidoo will probably be a perfect match for you.

You can check out the lenses I’ve made so far at http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/CreativeArtist

Pick your favorites and leave your comments, and perhaps I’ll see you on Squidoo too.

Blessings.
